STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARATION
A State of Emergency is hereby declared on the shoreline of Lake Ontario & Little Sodus Bay in Cayuga County, NY effective at 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 11, 2019.
This State of Emergency has been declared due to rising water levels and the increased risk to public safety and property on the shoreline. This situation threatens the public safety. This State of Emergency will remain in effect until rescinded by a subsequent order.
As the Chief Executive of Cayuga County, I, Tucker Whitman, Chair of the County Legislature, exercise the authority given me under section 24 of the New York State Executive Law, to preserve the public safety and hereby render all required and available assistance vital to the security, well-being, and health of the citizens of this Municipality.
I hereby direct all departments and agencies of Cayuga County to take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure and provide such emergency assistance deemed necessary.
EMERGENCY ORDER
Local Emergency Order on the shoreline of Lake Ontario & Little Sodus Bay in Cayuga County, NY effective at 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 11, 2019.
I, Tucker Whitman, Chair of the County Legislature, the Chief Executive of Cayuga County, in accordance with a declaration of a Cayuga County State of Emergency issued at 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 11, 2019, and pursuant to Section 24 of the New York State Executive Law, do hereby order:
A “No Wake Zone” to be implemented within 1,000 feet of the shore of Lake Ontario & Little Sodus Bay. All Boats must operate at idle speed only. This order shall take effect IMMEDIATELY.
And shall remain in effect until removed by order of the Chief Executive.
This order may also be renewed in (5) five day increments. Failure to obey this order is a criminal offense, punishable by law under New York State Executive Law Section 24(5).
