[ARCHIVED] Passport & Veterans Discount Card Day

Passport book

County Clerk Sue Dwyer and Jessica Strassle, Director of the Cayuga County Veterans Service Agency will be partnering to offer a Passport & Veterans Discount Card Day at the Fingerlakes Mall on Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

“More and more people are taking advantage of travel opportunities and this will allow them to apply for a passport on a weekend rather than have to take time off from work.” Dwyer said “This is especially convenient for families with young children because both parents are required to be present if their children are under 16 years of age.”

“The Fingerlakes Mall is the perfect place to offer these services to families and Veterans” Dwyer said, “We are going to be there on the same day as the Annual Boy Scout’s Pinewood Derby, and we expect lots of families to be visiting the mall that day.”

County Clerk Sue Dwyer will have a passport camera so applicants will not need to worry about getting their photos done ahead of time.

For details about passport fees, acceptable forms of payment, and what documentation you will need to bring with you, please call the County Clerks office at (315) 253-1271.

To download a passport application ahead of time, go to www.travel.state.gov. “Completing the application ahead of time will make the process much quicker. Double sided copies of the 2 page document are not acceptable. Dwyer said, “We will also have plenty of applications available at the mall that day.”

Dwyer said, “In addition to passports, we will be processing Veterans Discount cards and will provide our most up-to-date list of the more than 150 local businesses who give discounts through our Return the Favor Program. Veterans will need their military discharge papers with them, or if they have already filed their discharges at our office, we can quickly look up their names on our electronic database.”

Dwyer said they will be set up in a storefront near the Food Court in the center of the mall.  For questions about either service, please feel free to call the Cayuga County Clerk’s Office at (315) 253-1271 during office hours, Monday- Friday, 9 a.m.- 4:45 p.m.
