For Pedestrians

Be Seen Use Crosswalk Obey Signals Look all ways Pay attention

  • Cross at intersections and marked crosswalks.
  • Use pedestrian push-button and wait for signal to cross.
  • Before crossing, look left, right, then left again, and over your shoulder for turning vehicles.
  • Stay visible after dark and in bad weather with light-colored or reflective clothing.
  • Be predictable as a pedestrian. Cross streets at crosswalks or intersections whenever possible. This is where drivers expect pedestrians.
  • If a crosswalk or intersection is not available, locate a well-lit area, wait for a gap in traffic that allows you enough time to cross safely, and continue to watch for traffic as you cross.
