2020 Election Information

Updated August 25, 2020

The Board of Elections is always busy, but especially so during Presidential elections years. The impacts of the Corona virus (COVID-19) make that even truer in 2020. This is a summary of information voters need in order to safely record their votes this year.

Poll Sites for Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020

Our regular poll sites will be open all day, 6am to 9pm, on November 3rd. Voters and poll workers are required to wear masks and observe the usual 6 foot social distance between people. Hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes will be available.

A few of our polling locations have been changed. As a reminder, Legislative District 11 voters who previously voted at Auburn Grove or Northbrook now vote at Auburn Alliance Church on North Seward Avenue. Legislative District 15, which previously voted at Schwartz Towers or the Boyle Center, now votes at the Clifford Park Clubhouse (the Y Field). Town of Moravia voters will cast their ballots at the Moravia Justice Center.

Legislative District 12, which previously voted at the Auburn High School, will now vote at the Emerson Park Pavilion.

In the Towns the only change for this election is in Fleming. All voters in Fleming will vote at the Masonic Lodge on Route 34.

Early Voting October 24 – November 1, 2020

There will be nine days of Early Voting at three locations in Cayuga County. From October 24th through November 1st any registered voter may vote at any one of the three locations. In the Northern part of the County, the Cato Town Office will be an Early Voting site. In the South, the Venice Town Office will be a site. And in the city of Auburn the Clifford Park Clubhouse (Y Field) will be an early voting poll site. The hours and directions to the sites are listed here.

Absentee Voting

Any registered voter may vote by absentee ballot, but they must apply for the ballot. Applications can be printed from our website here or can be filed online and requested electronically. Voters may also call the Board of Elections and an application will be mailed to them.

Absentee ballots will be mailed beginning on October 1st. Ballots can be returned by mail to the Board of Elections, delivered to our office at 157 Genesee Street, Auburn, or delivered to any Cayuga County Early Voting or Election Day poll site. Ballots cannot be dropped off at Village, Town or the County Clerks Office. We caution against relying on Facebook or other social media sites for information. The rules are not the same in every state.

We urge every voter to plan ahead on how they wish to vote this year.

If voters have questions we urge them to utilize our website, call our office at 315-253-1285 or email us.
