Draft Cayuga County Local Solid Waste Management Plan – Public Comment Period Now Open
New York State requires that all mandated Planning Units provide and continually update a Local Solid Waste Management Plan (LSWMP) on behalf of the Towns, Villages, and Cities within. Cayuga County, as a mandated Planning Unit, is responsible for providing this LSWMP on behalf of its 33 municipalities. An LSMWP is a planning document intended to be used as a tool for organization and decision making in regard to a Planning Unit’s solid waste management system.
The Plan sets forth the following five focus areas with strategic action items intended to maintain and improve the County’s existing solid waste management and recycling program:
Waste Prevention, Reduction, and Reuse
Recyclables Recovery and Recycling Market Development
Individuals wishing to comment on the Plan have the opportunity to submit written comments from January 18 until March 2, 2024. Comments can be submitted by email to email@example.com. or by mail to 160 Genesee St, 5th Floor, Auburn, NY 13021. Please include “Comments on Cayuga County LSWMP” in the subject line of the email.
