Cayuga County Veterans Service Agency
Mission Statment
The County Veterans' Service Agency counsels and assists veterans and their dependents in areas such as pension and
compensation, health and medical, rehabilitation, educational and life insurance services. The agency advocates on
behalf of all Cayuga County veterans to ensure they receive the maximum benefits to which they are entitled under
federal, state and local law. The County Veterans' Service Agency actively assists veterans in pursuing claims
for burial benefits, disability compensation, pension benefits, real property tax exemptions and other benefits.
Presentation to veterans' organizations and civic groups keep veterans informed of agency functions and new laws
affecting their benefits.

The Veterans' Service Agency is committed to providing the highest level of service possible within the limits of
available resources. Personal integrity and perseverance are hallmarks of a successful Veterans' Service Agency.
Mission
The Veterans' Service agency is a department that provides entitlement information and advocacy assistance to
military personnel, to military veterans, and to their dependents in matters relating to veterans' law.
Objective
Deliver services to veterans and their families that will help the veteran transition from active duty to
civilian life; honor and serve the veteran in life and memorialize them in death for their sacrifices; contribute
to the public health and well being of our veterans; and improve the quality of life of our veterans and their families.
Key Result Areas
Availability: Access to the Veterans' Service Agency Office includes lunchtime.
Office hours normally run from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday thru Friday.
Home visitation, additional office hours (5:00 PM - 6:45 PM) are provided during the week as well as weekend appointments.
Ambulatory transportation is provided for eligible veterans and their caregivers for clinical, doctor, and hospital
appointments at the VAMC located in Syracuse, New York.
Quality Workforce: A diverse and efficient staff employed, trained, empowered and retained provides veterans and other
eligible customers appropriate services in a timely manner. Veteran claims are afforded due process and are well grounded.
Public Awareness: Our agency maintains an open door policy servicing to the best of its ability all eligible individuals.
The Veterans' Service Agency networks with other Agencies and organizations in order to meet the needs of our veterans, their
dependents and widows.
