![]() Conservation Field Days Conservation Field Days is an outdoor environmental education event for sixth grade students, organized by the Cayuga County Soil and Water Conservation District and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County. Our Conservation Field Days are held in September, at Emerson Park, on Owasco Lake. During the event, classes of students rotate through several different stations hosted by a variety of conservation professionals. Topics include such topics as Birds of NY, Fishes of Cayuga County, Agricultural Stewardship, Forestry, Wetlands, Recycling, and much more. Through the many interactive and demonstrative activities that take place, students learn that conservation has an impact on them, and that they can have an impact on the environment. As a bonus, an essay contest is held, in which 3 winners receive a gift for writing about "The Most Important Thing I Learned at Conservation Field Days."For more information on Conservation Field Days, please email Valerie Horning at vhorning@cayugaswcd.org Home SWCD Info People Calendar Programs Articles Annual Report Links Page updated on February 3, 2012 |
