- Analysis Committee Report
Bob Brower reported that he completed the final draft of the "Pre-Survey Report on Asian Clams in Owasco Lake," will post it on the Owasco Watershed Network webpage and will send it to the Cayuga County WQMA.
Bruce Natale reported he tried to get three quotes for conducting diving surveys for Asian clam on Owasco Lake from the three groups (Darrin Fresh Water Institute, InnerSpace Scientific Diving and Scientific Diving International) that did the surveys in Lake George, but they submitted one proposal as a group, which totals just under $10,000. Ed Wagner stated that he would look at getting funds to conduct this work. Bob Brower made a motion to move forward on working on finding funding for the proposal submitted by the Darrin Fresh Water Institute, InnerSpace Scientific Diving and Scientific Diving International. Anthony DeCaro seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Dave MacNeill stated that Dr. Alexander Karatayev and Dr. Lyubov Burlakova from Buffalo State College should be invited to collaborate. Dave MacNeill will also contact them to see if they would be willing to identify the unknown shells in the samples from the pre-survey.
Bruce Natale discussed a second proposal from Watershed Assessment Associates for a biological assessment of Owasco Lake as well as possible additional zooplankton and hemimysis surveys. Several scope changes were discussed and the Task Force decided to wait on this proposal.
