The Cayuga County Solid Waste Management Program Office is housed in the Cayuga County Department of Planning and Economic Development. Programs and activities include:

• Household Hazardous Waste Collection programs
• Clean Sweep programs for agricultural chemicals
• Tire recycling events with Cayuga County SWCD
• Recycling and composting education
• Cooperative marketing of recyclable materials
• Compiling and tracking information on inactive solid waste facilities
• Assisting municipalities with solid waste issues, particularly related to recycling drop off sites
