This
program’s goal is to minimize potential health hazards
by ensuring that septic systems located within Cayuga
County operate satisfactorily. |
|
|
|
The
periodic inspection of all septic systems in Cayuga
County as well as inspections and septic tank pump outs
at the time of a property transfer are required by the
Cayuga County Sanitary Code. In addition this
program has specific requirements regarding the
installation of new septic systems and the repair or
modification of existing septic systems. |
|

This program provides services in
the following areas: |

Enforces the
Cayuga County
Sanitary Code that requires the
periodic inspection of all
septic systems and the
inspection of septic systems and
septic tank pump out at the time
of a property transfer.

Reviews plans for new and
modified/repaired septic system
proposals.

Investigates complaints related
to failing septic systems.
-
Provides technical assistance to
septic system installers.
-
Provides a list of registered
septic system installers and
septic tank pumpers.
-
Answers questions from the
public regarding septic tank
operation.

Variance Request Form |
If you feel that to
comply with requirements
of the
Cayuga County Sanitary
Code would cause an
undue hardship, you may
request a variance from
the Code requirements.
This request will be
reviewed by the variance
committee, which is
comprised of individuals
who are not employees of
the Health Department.
If you would like to
request a variance,
please use this form and
submit it to the Health
Department. |

Affidavit |
If you wish to request a
variance from having a
septic system inspection
because your home has
been unoccupied, this
form needs to be
completed and submitted
with the Variance
Request Form. |

Voucher Program |
If you feel you are not
able to hire an
inspector or to perform
a routine inspection of
your septic system due
to financial reasons,
you may request a
voucher. |
