What is the "Child Find" Program? |
| Child Find is a combined
effort between you, your doctor and our staff that monitors the
developmental progress of your child in the areas of physical, cognitive,
communication, social/emotional and self-help skill development.
|
|
How does this program work? |
| If your child is at risk for a delay in development,
you will receive periodic developmental questionnaires
via U.S. mail. Our staff will give you information
on growth and development and talk with your child's
doctor to confirm regular care and check ups. In
some instances, a home visit can be arranged.
|
|
How are developmental screenings performed? |
| Screenings include very simple tasks that your child does on his or her
own. Our staff and you will be able to assess your child's development
by simply watching him/her play with their everyday toys. Skills
such as sitting, crawling, walking, talking, as well as grasping and holding small toys such as rattles and blocks are
skills that are most commonly assessed during a screening.
|
|
What happens if a developmental
delay is determined? |
| If a screening
determines a developmental delay, Child Find staff
will assist you in finding the services you and your
child will need through a referral to Early
Intervention.
|
|
