Our mission is to promote the maximum well-being, independence and dignity of all older persons residing
in Cayuga County.
As one of 59 Area Agencies on Aging in New York State, the Cayuga County Office for the
Aging works with local and state government and with community agencies to coordinate services and ensure access to services for all seniors and their families. |

- Twenty percent of Cayuga County’s residents (over 15,000 people) are over the age of 60.
|
- By 2015, twenty-four percent of Cayuga County’s residents (over 18,000 people) will be over the age of 60.
|
- Forty-two percent of Cayuga County residents who are aged 75 years or older live alone.
|
- The population which is over 85 years old is expected to double by 2015. These are the seniors most frail and in need of services.
|
- There are over 2,200 individuals in Cayuga County who have Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
|
- Incidents of Alzheimer’s disease rapidly increase in those past the age of 85.
