How long does the permit process take?

The process can take as long as 6 months after all requirements are met. Please be patient.  The Identification Officer is working diligently to complete your investigation. Fielding calls whose only purpose is to ask the status of the investigation just slows the process down for everyone.  Please do not call to inquire about the status of your permit until a minimum of 4 months has passed.

NOTE:  Due to restrictions put on the court system as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the process could take several months longer than usual.  Please be patient.
