A Hazard Mitigation Plan is a living document that communities use to reduce their vulnerability to hazards. Hazard Mitigation Plans form the foundation for a community's long-term strategy to reduce disaster losses and break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction, and repeated damage. The plan creates a framework for risk-based decision making to reduce damages to lives, property, and the economy from future disasters and is required to be eligible for FEMA pre-disaster grant funding.
As part of the planning process, the county has provided outreach to the public and stakeholders to support the development of comprehensive strategies to manage natural hazard risk. Cayuga County is continuing to seek your input to this planning process. The plan is currently available for review at Draft Plan
