[ARCHIVED] Confirmed COVID-19 Case of Previous Auburn Correctional Facility Inmate

The Cayuga County Health Department is reporting a confirmed case of COVID-19 in an inmate who was previously housed at Auburn Correctional Facility. The inmate was transferred from Auburn Correctional Facility to another site on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. The Health Department was notified in the late afternoon, Sunday, March 22, 2020 of the laboratory confirmed result.  

The Cayuga County Health Department is working with Auburn Correctional Facility to inform the identified staff at Auburn Correctional Facility who were within six feet of contact of the confirmed case. Those staff members will be placed into mandatory quarantine and monitored daily by the Department.  Household members of the staff who are now under mandatory quarantine are being asked to continue to perform social distancing.  This means stay at home, retain a 6 foot distance from the quarantined person and other household members as able, only leave your home if you require a necessary service such as the pharmacy or grocery store.
