Healthy Neighborhoods Program

New York State Healthy Neighborhoods Program

Cayuga County Healthy Neighborhoods Program is a grant funded by the New York State Department of Health and works to reduce risks within homes of disadvantaged individuals related to fire and injury, asthma, lead poisoning, and indoor air concerns. Targeted areas include:

  • The City of Auburn
  • Town of Locke
  • The Town and Village of Moravia

In-Home Assessments

The Cayuga County Health Department will partner with the Cayuga Community Health Network and local fire departments to conduct in-home assessments to ensure individuals are living in a healthy environment. These in-home assessments will be at the owner and or tenant's discretion.

Upon evaluation of the living environment, residents may be provided with information, educational materials, supplies to create a more healthy living area and referrals to partnering agencies. Re-visits will be made to those homes in which safety products are provided.

Staff will be canvassing targeted areas throughout the course of the year to conduct these in-home assessments.
