Records Section

The Records Office is responsible for maintaining all of the records generated by police services. Many types of reports are made available to victims of crimes and insurance companies, though the most frequently requested are Motor Vehicle Accident Reports.

Motor Vehicle Accident Reports

In addition to being provided at the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office for a small fee, Motor Vehicle Accident Reports can be purchased from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles or from LexisNexis Police Reports.

Pistol Permits

Applications for Pistol Permits are obtainable through the Records Division, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please note however that pistol permit transactions are processed between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. only.

Orders of Protection

Orders of Protection are maintained by the Records Division. Copies are available to the involved parties at no charge.

Other Reports

Other reports are available through Freedom of Information requests as provided by law. These requests are received through the Records Office and forwarded along with the pertinent reports to the County Records Access Officer for consideration before being sent out to the requestor.
