The Cayuga County Department of Planning and Economic Development sponsors a tire collection event that is typically held in mid to late Spring. The original purpose of this event is to beat the first mosquito hatch (mosquitos often lay their eggs in unused tires) as a response to the West Nile Virus. Details on the date, time, and location of the event is distributed about a month before the event takes place.
We do not accept tires larger than 36” tall (outside diameter) and we do not accept more than 40 tires from one individual. Additionally, this event is for residents only. If you are a farm or business looking to bring your tires to this event, please contact CCE Cayuga at 315-255-1183.
